The Background
This website all started out from a collection of scribbled notes that had formed from revising different physiology systems. Inspired by both my own personal teaching experience and some spectacular on-line teaching styles I had encountered, I began to transform my notes into the video format you see on the site. In September 2012 MedicalPhysiology.co.uk was started as a home for these videos, and hopefully a valuable learning resource for students and professionals of the medical sciences.
The Author
I'm Tom Heaton, and I'm currently working as an anaesthetics trainee in Lancashire. I have a long standing interest in physiology, and believe that understanding it provides a vital core for much of the medicine that we practise each day; from diagnosing diseases right through to safely prescribing medication. This has combined with my passion for teaching and resulted in this collection of videos that I hope will provide engaging and useful information on an at times difficult area of medicine.
